Frequently asked

Good answers, without the support maze.

Start here. Most setup issues come down to one permission, schedule, or Always Allowed setting.

Why does AppLimiter need Screen Time permission?

Apple requires Screen Time authorization before AppLimiter can shield selected apps and categories. The permission lets iOS enforce the limits you create. It does not give the developer access to the identity of the apps you select.

Can force-quitting AppLimiter disable a limit?

No. Active limits are enforced through iOS Screen Time technologies, so they continue to apply when the main AppLimiter app is not open.

What happens when a session ends?

You can close the limited app or spend another available opening to continue. If a cooldown is active, the app stays unavailable until the cooldown ends.

When do daily openings reset?

Opening budgets reset each day at the reset time configured in AppLimiter. Overnight protected hours are counted consistently against the day on which they begin.

How does parental-control PIN protection work?

Enable PIN protection in Settings and choose a 6-digit code. Once enabled, protected limits and settings cannot be changed in AppLimiter without the correct PIN.

Does AppLimiter remotely control my child’s iPhone?

No. AppLimiter is configured directly on the iPhone where the limits should apply. It does not provide remote monitoring, location tracking, message access, or a parent dashboard in the cloud.

Why is a selected app still available?

Confirm that Screen Time permission is approved, the rule is enabled, the app is included in the selection, and it is not on the Always Allowed list. If the issue continues, restart the iPhone and open AppLimiter once to refresh the active rules.

What devices are supported?

AppLimiter requires an iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
